Unable to activate registration if token is expired

I registered a user and email was sent but link not clicked for hours.
After i clicked it, it displayed 'token expired' error.
i tried to find a way how to activate the user, but couldnt find a way. tried to reset password, to register user once again with the same email, but i dont see obvious way how to use the same email to activate the user which token expired.

Any ideas?

Interesting use case, you can fix this user and set it to "active" from the admin panel (login as superadmin). We could detect if the token is expired and allow the user to register again with the same email. Setting this as an improvement.
