I'm having trouble understanding the roadmap given in State of Kotlin Scripting 2024 with respect to this project. On the one hand this announcement seems to reorient JetBrain's idea of scripting (outside of Gradle) towards the Kotlin Notebook plugin — which clearly has a relationship of some kind to this codebase. But on the other hand it explicitly abandons without guarantees kotlin-scripting-ide-services — which I believe this project depends on. This is a more precise question than, say, KTNB-783 — since that tracking issue and the others are only interested in the Kotlin Notebook plugin not this project.
Should we expect to be able to embed Kotlin kernels in non-Jetbrain-product-environments in the post K2 world or not? Does this repository continue or is it absorbed into the Kotlin Notebook plugin?
