Dogecoin Core is the reference Dogecoin client and it builds the backbone of the network. However, it downloads and stores the entire history of Bitcoin transactions (which is currently several GBs); depending on the speed of your computer and network connection, the synchronization process can take anywhere from a few hours to a day or more.
The following are some helpful notes on how to run Dogecoin on your native platform.
Unpack the files into a directory and run:
bin/dogecoin-qt
(GUI) orbin/dogecoind
(headless)
Unpack the files into a directory, and then run dogecoin-qt.exe.
Drag Dogecoin-Core to your applications folder, and then run Dogecoin-Core.
