On what version of Vanilla OS this happens?

@RDKRACZ Can you provide some more hardware information, please? Without any information, it is hard for us to debug non-reproducible issues.

Please add the following details:

  • Your old laptop hardware specification.
  • Your new laptop hardware specification.
  • Information on the drive (and the partitioning of the drive) [You can attach a screenshot optionally from GNOME Disks]

Sure, I will edit this comment later with more details and some benchmark results. I will also switch back the disk and see if the problem goes away.

The newer device uses i3-6006U with Intel HD Graphics 520, NVIDIA GeForce 920MX, and 4 GB of ram.

Sorry for the wait.

make sure the /home partition ("Partition 5" in your case) has enough space left

18 GB free.

I decided to do a benchmark on a Live USB Fedora image and compare it to Vanilla OS, on the same hardware.
Here are the Geekbench 6 results:
VanillaOS
Fedora booted off a pendrive

It's a 2-3 factor difference but to be honest it feels like 10x. I also noticed flatpak issues. I cannot run any flatpak app, sometimes rebooting helps, but sometimes don't. The error is: error: Unable to allocate instance id

I finally got around to swapping the disk again to the older machine (CPU: Intel i3-5005U; GPU: Intel HD Graphics 5500; GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 920M)
Here are the geekbench results, 2x times faster.

@kbdharun Is there anything more needed from me to help narrow the issue?
