Can I simulate a jailbroken simulator using simject? #88
Comments
Hey, your question is a bit ambiguous what exactly is it you are trying to do? This repository is for allowing developers to test their Tweaks in the simulator. If you are an end user you likely will not find luck here. |
The goal is to test the jailbreak detection plugins on smartphones that have been jailbroken and determine whether testing directly on a simulator—where we can tweak a simulator to toggle the jailbreak on and off—would be more straightforward. |
@viksat7 iOS simulators only simulate parts of iOS enough for iOS developers to develop their applications. Simulators don't, for example, protect modifications of filesystems which could be a clear indicator of the system being jailbroken. Certain APIs that could be used for detecting jailbreak are also downright not available on simulators. I don't recommend relying on "incomplete" iOS to write the plugin meant to be used on a real device. |
