As far as I can see you have to wade through the whole list. Should there maybe be a list/tab just for installed stuff?

This would also fix another thing I see as an issue which is that the only way you know something is installed is based on the color of its icon and it is almost indistinguishable on my screen.

@DimaVartanian well, we can maybe make the icons a bit thicker or more clear, but that's the desired UX:

  • blue when the package is installed
  • black when it's not installed
  • circular progress when it's installing

Here are a couple of basic use cases for displaying installed items in a separate list:

  1. I am reinstalling Xcode or reformatting my machine and want to quickly see which plugins I have installed. Currently I would have to scroll through each list individually and look for the colored items rather than just seeing them all in one neat place.
  2. I want to visit the website/github page of a plugin or just get the name/URL to give to someone else. If I don't remember exactly what it is called I will have to scroll all the way through the list to find it.

This is not a huge problem yet but once the list of plugins gets longer and longer this can become more of an issue. To be clear all I am asking about is the possible addition of an "Installed" tab alongside the other 4.

Do you still think it doesn't fit? Perhaps I can create it myself and add a pull request if you want to see what it would look like.

I meant have submitted this issue on the main repo, not the package repo. Should I move it?

Edit: looks like someone else already submitted an issue. Here it is: alcatraz/Alcatraz#110
