Background

According to the international conservation organization IUCN, the Sumatran Elephant species is classified as being in crisis. According to WWF Indonesia, the Sumatran Elephant has lost 70% of its habitat over the past 25 years, and its population continues to decline due to habitat loss and hunting by humans.
