Eventually, we'd like to move past scraping data from socialserve.com.

A page for adding additional listings would be super.

How will submissions be verified?

@zpallin Ideally? We'd have some sort of landowner registration process so that apartment complex employees can register and submit new units.

However, I'm not entirely sure how we would go about this, politics wise. One alternative, if we totally want to cowboy this, is to have community supported submissions that we personally verify by calling apartment complexes and double checking before that listing goes live on the site. This way we could have something like "I found this rental that is an affordable housing unit but I make too much... so I'm going to submit to findahome so that other people can benefit from knowing that it exists"

A big 'fingers crossed' hurdle for this project is getting it picked up by the city... so maybe they'd have some good ideas on what a verification process may look like.

I'm going to suggest to offload that to whoever is managing the site and don't provide a user authentication system or anything. Just put contact details on the page and have them do it via email. It might be a nightmare trying to set up some sort of integrated way to submit listings just yet. Like you said, it's ideal.

@zpallin As of right now, I'm probably going to be managing the site. Even if we're ad-hocing it to "submit a posting, then validate it personally, then post it" we'll still need a way to input a new listing.

Ultimately, this will replace socialserve.com and I'm sure they have some sort of listing management mechanism for property owners.
