Rename master branch to gh-pages #40
Comments
Sounds like a reasonable idea to me. |
I am down, but we have to make sure that everything is consistent with the other lessons. This is just one module of many. What do you guys think @hlapp @mine-cetinkaya-rundel @kcranston @fmichonneau? |
I don't have an objection to it. I can't remember if there was a specific reason why we didn't go this route from the beginning. |
There are certain limits on which branches you can serve GitHub pages from and what they can be named. And it's different for a GH user vs an Org and possibly matters whether affects the "main" repo for the user/Org vs a "regular" repo. Sorry I don't recall all the details. I just know I have been thwarted in a previous attempt do away with master and/or to only have gh-pages or to serve Pages out of master. This will require some experimentation. But I'm always in support of anything that makes rendered stuff (slides, in this case) more readily available. |
FYI, the Reproducible Science Curriculum lessons are also undergoing adaptation to the Data Carpentry lesson template. Perhaps @tracykteal can comment on what that can or should mean for the branch that everything is on? |
May I suggest that you rename the master branch to
gh-pages
so that it is easier to share the HTML slides via a link? For some reason htmlpreview.github.io has trouble displaying the slides. I had to clone the repo so I could share them via link. The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
