Silent crash when Upgrading or Transforming at Neow

I my self have not been able to reproduce this issue but I've seen it reported a couple of times.

Casually passing through to confirm that transforming or upgrading cards on a custom character with Neow (happened on both Witch and Construct mods for me) seems to always silent crash the game.
This also causes an unfortunate side effect where when you continue the run after booting the game back up, it starts a new run instead, losing you the Neow bonus since you didn't reach the boss on the previous "run".
