If you configure Open Shell Menu such that the Windows key opens the Open Shell menu, then it should work.

In the Open Shell Menu settings, check "Show all settings", then go to the "Controls" tab. Change "Windows Key opens" to "Open-Shell Menu".

thanks, i wish i could still use a default open shell icon making retrobar hiding its icon per theme..
