Welcome to the RagnarokUnity3D wiki!
Focus: “Ragnarok” is a simple aircraft shooter game that offers hours of gameplay that starts off easy but becomes more challenging with each passing level. There are five levels per stage and at the end of a stage the hero must defeat a sub-boss before continuing on to the next stage. The enemy’s movements and firing patterns are simple at first but then become increasingly complex as stages are completed. As the game progresses the hero’s star-fighter, Ragnarok, becomes more powerful as it picks up power-ups and receives help from NPCs that our hero meets along their journey in order to destroy an ever increasingly difficult enemy. The power-ups can increase firepower, defense or give Ragnarok a new ability for a short period of time. The main character of the game is the lone survivor from a fleet of ships that were destroyed by hostile alien lifeforms. These aliens called the Drood want to eradicate any life that is not their own. Through trial and tribulation our hero must blast their way through Drood and destroy their mothership in order to get revenge and stop the production of new Drood ships.
Gameplay mechanics: It is a top view single player space shooter game, where the player control the ship by using left and right arrows and fires bullets using the space bar. The ship can also rotate left and right in order to fire into the corners of the level where the enemy could spawn from.
Artificial intelligence: The enemy Drood have the ability to move towards the player and follow the players movements while shooting at the player.
Planned features: 1. Add more story elements in. Possibly some NPC interactions and help. 2. Add more maneuverability to Ragnarok (Rotate was added). 3. Increase the types of powerups and randomize them (HP+1 and Speed Up randomized).
Game minute: It's the year 4665 and you awaken in your fighter shaken up but not seriously hurt. After checking to make sure you are not seriously injured you peer outside your cockpit to find that you are on a rock floating through space. You attempt to remember how you got there but all you can remember is fighting alongside your kinsmen against the hostile Drood. Suddenly, you snap out of your foggy haze and realize that the rock and your ship are being hit by fallen debris. Looking closely at the rubble falling from the sky you recognize some of the serial numbers on chunks of the burning metal. Knowing that you may be the only remaining survivor from your fleet you feel rage sweep over you. The Drood must pay for what they have done. Holding this idea of revenge inside you make repairs on your fighter and prepare to take on the entire Drood fleet. Shortly after take off you encounter five of the remaining Drood fighters scouring the area for any remaining lifeforms. They immediately fire upon you and you do not hesitate to return fire. You weave through enemy fire and blast your way through as the Drood close in on you. It seems as though five against one isn't fair odds for them. They cannot keep up with your ships maneuverability. Sure they may have landed a few shots but with only two remaining you make short work of them and continue on looking for more. One of them drop a container containing a power-up for your ship. You are delighted that this power-up will increase your firepower.
