What do you do with external timers in a schedule?

I want to turn things on and off via schedule.
For this, unsing a separate timer for turning on and a separate for turning off is possible, but not perfect.
I only want to turn things off via schedure if it was turn on before via schedule, but don't want to turn off via schedule if it was turned on before manually.
For this, I want to set+start a timer via schedule. A automation upon this timer then makes things turning on when timer starts and off when it's finished.
