Let me first start with saying that I was really happy to find this player. It is better in every aspect that any other Android TV player I tried, only flaw is HEVC playback. Same files play fine in VLC.
It seems to differ file to file, but most HEVC encoded videos have some kind of stutter or slow down in scenes with lot of movement. I sent you email with info about files I have issues with.
When I tried switching decoder manualy, forcing hardware decoding did not produce any difference. However forcing "Android MediaPlayer" results in smooth playback, but comes with other weird issues, like subtitles not working.

Thanks for reporting. I suspect a potential regression, since I do not have a philips TV, could you please test this apk and report if it is any better?

For future reference this is the same issue as https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=352515
Reverting nova-video-player/aos-avos@81f86eb should solve the issue.
Corrected in 4.48.9.

@courville So I tried with version you suggested in first post (2052) and results are mixed.
First file (RaM) plays perfect smooth in this version. Second file (JW3) is without difference, same constant stutter. Let me know, if you need me to test something more for diagnostics.

@Jakub-Cepela roger that. I will retrieve JW3 and test (on a Sony TV this is the closest I can access to your HW).

I can reproduce the video non smooth too on Sony TV.

@Jakub-Cepela, I have checked JW3 video sample on Sony TV with mx player, vlc and nova: they all behave the same (choppy).
Do you please confirm that with JW3 it is ok with other players on Philips TV?

@courville
I tried several other players (including Android default player and MX), all choppy except VLC and Sun Player.
Completely smooth playback in VLC, even scenes with lots of movement.
