For #108, I had to temporarily switch to patched versions of the mcp counters:

# TODO workaround until https://github.com/r-lib/pak/issues/385 is resolved
grst/MCPcounter
grst/mMCP-counter

once r-lib/pak#385 is resolved we can move back to the original repos.
conda is not affected.
