Once there is an automated choco publisher, add events to release.

After a bit of testing, it turns out that GitHub's package registry is not a good solution: it requires any user to authenticate using a GitHub personal access token.

MyGet does have an opensource option, but it has number of constraints. Perhaps it is worthwhile to get the application onto Chocolatey's main gallery instead? If yes, is there a simple process to auto-update the archive later on?
