[Feature Request] link conversion

This is more a discussion than an actual request since I already wrote a working patch for this, but want to discuss this behaviour.
Right now all pages are converted to the dokuwiki format like this:

[[Complicated link (not really complicated/foo-/bar)]]

to

[[complicated_link_not_really_complicated:foo-:bar_]]

Since dokuwiki converts the links automaticly to this format when clicking on it we don't have to actually change the linktext. This results in a nicer looking link that still leads to the correct content.
Are there older dokuwiki versions that don't convert links themself?
Is this a feature that should be added to yamdwe?
