installation issue with gemspec

I try to install and get this error:

spree_google_merchant at .../bundler/gems/spree_google_merchant-385d59a0086a did not have a valid gemspec.
This prevents bundler from installing bins or native extensions, but that may not affect its functionality.
The validation message from Rubygems was:
authors may not be empty

Is there a reason the author is commented out in the gemspec?
