I'm not sure how you have F-droid builds set to happen (perhaps they are manual?) but there's been a couple Fdroid repo updates since 1.10.2 RC5 released on Play and Sky Map remains at 1.10.1 RC1 there.

Hi! I could try to issue a PR on F-Droid for the release of latest version there. But as I see it looks correct no automatic update happened on F-Droid. My findings below.

  • latest release on GitHub is 1.10.1-RC2, tagged as Pre-release;
  • latest release on F-Droid is 1.10.1 - RC1, which looks older than the latest on GitHib, and which is not available on GitHub anymore. But, checking better, it looks like the latest release on GitHub was renamed to RC2 afterwards. In fact, the releases on GitHub and F-Droids point to the same commit:

GitHub 1.10.1-RC2 --> tag #450 --> commit 27acc12
F-Droid build recipe for 1.10.1 - RC1 --> commit 27acc12; see relevant lines below:

  - versionName: 1.10.1 - RC1
    ...
    commit: 27acc1255cfe6ebfa4b69f92bb35aa72c1d31e12

So far, it seems the latest and greatest releases is available on F-Droid store, with an outdated version number.

Extending to Play Store:

  • latest release on the Play store is 1.10.2 - RC5, last update 09-Mar-2024: I do not know why it is named RC5 (can't find such a version on GitHub) and - even more important - what was the commit/tag the released APK was built from. The release date is relatively fresh, so I wonder if the Sky Map developers pushed a more recent commit to build this version.

Thanks for letting me know. Usually an F-droid enthusiast takes care of it as I'm not that familiar with the process. I'll see if I can figure it out.

F-Droid can automatically upgrade if there is new release here on GitHub. See the F-Droid documentation and community for help.

Why are the release numbers different in Playstore and F-Droid?
Playstore 1.10.3 - RC1
F-Droid 1.10.3 - RC0

I installed the F-Droid version and the playstore says that there is a newer version.

@jaydeetay it would be great if you could git tag new releases then F-Droid will automatically pick them up.

I would like to pick it up from github with Obtainium but it says: 1.10.3 - RC0 installed version
1.10.0-RC3 latest version

Since one day on F-Droid is 1.10.4 - RC1 Thanks!

Small request for improvement in the furure, in https://github.com/sky-map-team/stardroid/releases label RC versions as Pre-release and versions without RC in the name as Release.
