Is this backward compatible with v1? If not, is there a timeline for this? Thanks!

no, it is not backward compatible.

Can you provide some insight on how to migrate? We're having production issues with v1 where workers get into deadlock (seems others are too), and it would really help us to understand what is required to migrate.
