If you want to execute some commands or a special script BEFORE the device goes into deep sleep you can use FUNC_SAVE_BEFORE_RESTART as a predefined hook to implement your own procedure. This requires you to code your own function and compile your custom firmware. If you want to use rules you can use the `System#Save` trigger. This will be executed just before the device goes into deep sleep.

Another method to get devices out of deepsleep for maintenace purposes is to configure a settable flag in your home automation software (such as Node-Red) to listen on the device topic, e.g.

`tele/labclimate/INFO1`

The moment a message is received on this topic your automation solution can send command `deepsleeptime 0` to topic `cmnd/labclimate/deepsleeptime` with a payload `0`

This will cause the device to exit deep sleep configuration and allow maintenance such as firmware updates to be performed without having an unexpected deep sleep entry event.

Remember to change `labclimate` in this example to your topic and to only send the command `deepsleeptime 0` ONCE.

When you are done with your maintenance processes you can place the device into deep sleep configuration as you did originally.
