For public contributions to localization efforts on Sudomemo.
Notes: In some headers, text is shrunk by prepending an @ sign. As English text displays differently in the Japanese versions, and vice-a-versa, @ signs at the beginning of a locale string should not be included in the translated versions unless added after the fact.
Full and verified translations can earn you citizenship on Sudomemo c:
Google Translate does not cut it: you'll need to be fluent in the language you are translating it to.
You will need a basic understanding of git/GitHub and a GitHub account.
Fork this repository. Please use a single branch for the branch to submit a PR with, rather than making many additional branches. Your master branch (main/default one) is fine to use. The single branch is what will be pulled into the main repository.
Copy the en_US folder to a new folder, or simply save each new locale file to the new folder under the structure <locale code>/LC_MESSAGES/filenameHere.po
.
Please name the folder as follows: ISO-639 language code concatenated with the ISO-3166 country code by an underscore.
For example:
en_US = English (USA)
ja_JP = Japanese (Japan)
el_GR = Greek (Greece)
For Spanish, please use
es_ES - Spanish (Spain).
If you have any question about what to name your locale folder, feel free to reach out to me on Discord (sudofox#8048) or on Twitter ( https://twitter.com/Sudomemo )
After that, translate all of the "msgstr" sections in all the .po files (not the "msgid" sections, those stay the same.)
Instances of %s are printf placeholders. Something like a name or a number will go in there. For example:
msgid "FLIPNOTE_BY_FORMAT"
msgstr "Flipnote by %s"
Just include the %s where the relevant part being inserted would go.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
The following list is not up-to-date and will be updated shortly to reflect the current state of translations.
