My name is Sergios and I am an AI Researcher and Computer Science PhD candidate.
I work at the AI-team and MaDgIK lab in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, under professor Manolis Koubarakis.
My research mainly lies in the areas of Question-Answering, Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models, and the Semantic Web. I'm also interested in Operating Systems and Compilers.
In addition, I like contributing to Open Source projects, playing the piano, and hiking. You can learn more about me on my webpage.
For quite a few years I spent many of my evenings making contributions to open-source software projects. In addition to that, I participated in Google Summer of Code in 2020, 2021, and 2022, the first two times as a contributor and the last one as a mentor.
During this time I made significant contributions to Xfce and MuseScore, fixing dozens of bugs and addressing multiple feature requests. For around one year and a half, I was also the maintainer of Xfce4-terminal.
Nowadays I focus on producing high-quality, open-source research related to the Semantic Web and Question-Answering. I strive to make all of my work easily accessible and documented to be as useful as possible to as many people as possible.

The main focus of my research activity is Geospatial Question-Answering. As part of my work in the AI lab of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens, I've made contributions to the GeoQA question-answering engine and I led the development of the dataset GeoQuestions1089.
I am currently working on the next generation of Geospatial Question-Answering, in the context of the European projects DA4DTE and STELAR.
