[ROCKCHIP] Creating a Bootable GammaOS Core SD Card

For Rockchip devices only

Recommended SD Card

A 32GB A2 spec microSD card is required, with performance equivalent to:

**DO NOT USE AMAZON BASICS OR CHEAP BRANDS. These are unreliable. **

Using low-quality cards may result in poor performance or boot failures. image


Instructions (Windows Only)

Important Notes

  • Do NOT use DD, Win32DiskImager, or balenaEtcher etc. Tools like these will not work. Only use the supplied SDDiskTool.
  • Ensure you have 7-Zip installed to extract files.

Steps

  1. Download Required Files:

    • GammaOS Core image for your device: Releases.
    • SDDiskTool_v1.69.zip.
  2. Extract Files:

    • Extract SDDiskTool_v1.69.zip.
    • Extract GammaOS_Core_BetaX_XXX.7z using the password provided.
  3. Insert SD Card:

    • Use a reliable card reader to insert your microSD card.
  4. Open SD Firmware Tool:

    • Launch SD_Firmware_Tool.exe from the SDDiskTool_v1.69 folder. image
  5. Select Options:

    • Choose SD Boot in the application.
    • Click Firmware and select the extracted .img file from the GammaOS Core archive. image
  6. Create the Bootable Card:

    • Click Create. This may take a few attempts to succeed. image
  7. Finish:

    • Eject the microSD card once completed.
    • Insert the card into your device and boot as you would with any Linux OS.
