The Live 4 Life spatial performance tool does not use the classic timeline concept to write events in time, being done horizontally along a time axis. However, it uses certain notions of traditional sequencers, in particular those of tracks, containing and triggering sequences of events. Here, the concept of a track does not have the same meaning as in traditional sequencers since multiple sound events within a sequence can be layered at the same time. We can thus consider these tracks as containers of sequences, which themselves are containers of events.

The program has the following data structure :

  • Synthesis ParametersSound EventsSequences of events ⇒ Tracks of sequences.

Several windows are available, mainly :

  1. the Control panel on the left to play/stop tracks and global actions on tracks,

  2. the main window with some global controls at the top and including different tabs, like :

    1. the Sequence View to edit sequences of sound events,
    2. the Global View to organise, select and play the sequences within tracks,
    3. FX Views.
