- Install dependencies:
npm install
- Configure the folder to be indexed:
- Open
src/services/mcp/index.ts
- Locate the constructor method (around line 52)
- Change the default path from
Downloads
to your preferred directory:

- Open
- Create a
.env
file in the root directory with your Anthropic API key:ANTHROPIC_API_KEY=your_api_key_here

First, start the server:
npm run dev:server
This will start the backend server that handles file indexing and search.

Then, in a separate terminal window, start Raycast:
npm run dev
This will start the Raycast extension.

The extension should now be available in Raycast
- Open Raycast and select "Search local files"
- Type your search query
- Browse through the results
- Use the file type filter to narrow down results
- Select a file from the search results to see AI-generated context about the file
- Ask natural language questions about your files
- Get AI-powered insights based on file content
- For more precise searches, use specific keywords
- For natural language queries, phrase your question clearly
- The LLM will analyze the most relevant sections of your files based on your query
- If search results aren't appearing, make sure the server is running (
npm run dev:server
) - If the LLM features aren't working, check that your API key is correctly set in the
.env
file - If you change the indexed directories, restart the server for changes to take effect
- If you're getting errors about file permissions, make sure the directories you're trying to index are accessible
