Closures
child scope always has access to parent scope
Closures - a function ran. the function executed. It's never going to be execute again.
BUT it's going to remember that there are refernces to those variables.

Currying

package.json
is a plain JSON(Java Script Object Notation) text file which contains all metadata information about Node JS Project or application.
Every Node JS Package or Module should have this file at root directory to describe its metadata in plain JSON Object format.
We should use same file name with same case “package” and same file extension “*.json”.
Why that filename is “package”: because Node JS platform manages every feature as separate component. That component is also known as “Package” or “Module”.
NPM (Node Package Manager) uses this package.json file information about Node JS Application information or Node JS Package details. package.json file contains a number of different directives or elements. It uses these directives to tell NPM “How to handle the module or package”.

A gitignore
file specifies intentionally untracked files that Git should ignore. Files already tracked by Git are not affected;

JSX is an XML/HTML-like syntax used by React that extends ECMAScript so that XML/HTML-like text can co-exist with JavaScript/React code. The syntax is intended to be used by preprocessors (i.e., transpilers like Babel) to transform HTML-like text found in JavaScript files into standard JavaScript objects that a JavaScript engine will parse.
Basically, by using JSX you can write concise HTML/XML-like structures (e.g., DOM like tree structures) in the same file as you write JavaScript code, then Babel will transform these expressions into actual JavaScript code. Unlike the past, instead of putting JavaScript into HTML, JSX allows us to put HTML into JavaScript.
That's why we use import React from 'react';
so that it could read html like syntax.
A service worker is a script that your browser runs in the background, separate from a web page, opening the door to features that don't need a web page or user interaction.

The default exports tend to be used for whatever you normally expect to get from the module. The named exports tend to be used for utilities that might be handy, but aren’t always necessary. The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is designed to enable communications between clients and servers.
HTTP works as a request-response protocol between a client and server.
A web browser may be the client, and an application on a computer that hosts a web site may be the server.
Example:
A client (browser) submits an HTTP request to the server; then the server returns a response to the client. The response contains status information about the request and may also contain the requested content.

When a browser requests a service from a web server, an error might occur, and the server might return an error code like 404 Not Found. It is common to name these errors HTML error messages.
But these messages are something called HTTP status messages. In fact, the server always returns a message for every request. The most common message is 200 OK.
Routing refers to determining how an application responds to a client request to a particular endpoint, which is a URI (or path) and a specific HTTP request method (GET, POST, and so on). Each route can have one or more handler functions, which are executed when the route is matched.
JSON is a syntax for storing and exchanging data. JSON is text, written with JavaScript object notation.
JSON.stringify()
A common use of JSON is to exchange data to/from a web server.
When sending data to a web server, the data has to be a string.

AJAX is a misleading name. AJAX applications might use XML to transport data, but it is equally common to transport data as plain text or JSON text.

AJAX allows web pages to be updated asynchronously by exchanging data with a web server behind the scenes. This means that it is possible to update parts of a web page, without reloading the whole page.
A Promise
is an object that may produce a single value some time in the future: either a resolved value, or a reason that it’s not resolved (e.g., a network error occurred). A promise may be in one of 3 possible states: fulfilled, rejected, or pending.
Promises are used to handle asynchronous operations in JavaScript. They are easy to manage when dealing with multiple asynchronous operations where callbacks can create callback hell leading to unmanageable code.
Prior to promises events and callback functions were used but they had limited functionalities and created unmanageable code. Multiple callback functions would create callback hell that leads to unmanageable code.
A Promise
is in one of these states:
- fulfilled: meaning that the operation completed successfully.
onFulfilled()

The try/catch/finally statement handles some or all of the errors that may occur in a block of code, while still running code.
Errors can be coding errors made by the programmer, errors due to wrong input, and other unforeseeable things.
The try statement allows you to define a block of code to be tested for errors while it is being executed.
The catch statement allows you to define a block of code to be executed, if an error occurs in the try block.
The finally statement lets you execute code, after try and catch, regardless of the result.
Note: The catch and finally statements are both optional
, but you need to use one of them (if not both) while using the try statement.
Tip: When an error occurs, JavaScript will normally stop, and generate an error message. Use the throw

Backend development languages handle the 'behind-the-scenes' functionality of web applications. It's code that connects the web to a database, manages user connections, and powers the web application itself. Backend development works in tandem with the front end to deliver the final product to the end user.
An API application program interface is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. Basically, an API specifies how software components should interact. Additionally, APIs are used when programming graphical user interface (GUI) components. A good API makes it easier to develop a program by providing all the building blocks. A programmer then puts the blocks together.
Here is a real-life API example. You may be familiar with the process of searching flights online. Just like the restaurant, you have a variety of options to choose from, including different cities, departure and return dates, and more. Let us imagine that you’re booking you are flight on an airline website. You choose a departure city and date, a return city and date, cabin class, as well as other variables. In order to book your flight, you interact with the airline’s website to access their database and see if any seats are available on those dates and what the costs might be.
However, what if you are not using the airline’s website––a channel that has direct access to the information? What if you are using an online travel service, such as Kayak or Expedia, which aggregates information from a number of airline databases?
The travel service, in this case, interacts with the airline’s API. The API is the interface that, like your helpful waiter, can be asked by that online travel service to get information from the airline’s database to book seats, baggage options, etc. The API then takes the airline’s response to your request and delivers it right back to the online travel service, which then shows you the most updated, relevant information.

Middleware functions are functions that have access to the request object (req), the response object (res), and the next function in the application’s request-response cycle. The next function is a function in the Express router which, when invoked, executes the middleware succeeding the current middleware.
Middleware functions can perform the following tasks:
- Execute any code.
- Make changes to the request and the response objects.
- End the request-response cycle.
- Call the next middleware in the stack.

Every time the app receives a request, it prints the message “LOGGED” to the terminal.
The order of middleware loading is important: middleware functions that are loaded first are also executed first.
If myLogger is loaded after the route to the root path, the request never reaches it and the app doesn’t print “LOGGED”, because the route handler of the root path terminates the request-response cycle.
The middleware function myLogger simply prints a message, then passes on the request to the next middleware function in the stack by calling the next() function.

Storing passwords securely:npm install bcrypt-nodejs
Step 1:
Your minimum password length should be at least 8 characters, and the maximum as large are 64 characters for the user. The longer the password that the user sets, the better.
Do accept both ASCII and UNICODE characters and don't set rules about which characters should and shouldn’t be included (P@ssword1 is NOT a good password).
Instead, encourage people to set long passwords with high entropy (upper case letters, lower case letters, digits, special characters).
Don’t allow password hints.
Avoid security questions. Although this is good for an extra layer of security, the information can be easily discovered by an attacker in this day and age.
It’s just an extra implementation step; a step that a user has to take while offering very little added security.
Use 2 factor authentication if you want an extra layer of security in your application, but avoid using SMS as this can be easily hacked to have the attackers phone receive the confirmation code.
Once the user has registered, there are two things to keep in mind:
Don’t let the user know the password was incorrect when logging in. Instead, mention that the username and password combination is incorrect. You want to minimize information that an attacker can get, and the less they know (such as that the user exists), the better.
The only time passwords should be reset by an administrator is when they suspect that an account has been compromised. Otherwise, passwords should only be reset by a user when he or she has forgotten their credentials.
Step 2:
Now that the user has entered a good password, they will submit the form and trust you to take care of their credentials. In the second step, you are transmitting the form (account sign up) data in a POST body to your server. You do it this way for a few reasons:
POST requests are never cached. POST request will not remain in the browser history. No restriction on data length
Most importantly, use HTTPS so that this data will be encrypted and cannot be attacked by someone who is observing your network traffic. HTTPS is the regular HTTP protocol with SSL/TLS encryption which means that only the server can read what you send it, and only you can read what the server sends back.
Step 3:
Now that we have received the username and password to our server it is time to do a few things. Before we get started though, always remember to never store passwords in plaintext. Instead, you will want to use some of these popular npm packages to hash the password: argon2, scrypt, or bcrypt.

Database is an organized collection of data, so that it can be easily accessed and managed.
You can organize data into tables, rows, columns, and index it to make it easier to find relevant information.
Database handlers create a database in such a way that only one set of software program provides access of data to all the users.
The main purpose of the database is to operate a large amount of information by storing, retrieving, and managing data. There are many dynamic websites on the World Wide Web nowadays which are handled through databases. For example, a model that checks the availability of rooms in a hotel. It is an example of a dynamic website that uses a database.
There are many databases available like PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB etc.
Modern databases are managed by the database management system (DBMS).
SQL or Structured Query Language is used to operate on the data stored in a database. SQL depends on relational algebra and tuple relational calculus.
The word RDBMS is termed as Relational Database Management System. It is represented as a table(also known as relations) that contains rows and column.
RDBMS is based on the Relational model;
A relational database contains the following components:
- Table
- Record/ Tuple
- Field/Column name /Attribute
- Instance
- Schema
- Keys
An RDBMS is a tabular DBMS that maintains the ACID accuracy, consistency, integrity, and security of the data.
Primary key uniquely identify a record in the table. Foreign key is a field in the table that is primary key in another table. Primary Key can't accept null values. Foreign key can accept multiple null value.
NoSQL is an upcoming category of Database Management Systems. Its main characteristic is its non-adherence to Relational Database Concepts. NOSQL means Not only SQL.
Concept of NoSQL databases grew with internet giants such as Google, Facebook, Amazon etc who deal with gigantic volumes of data.
When you use relational database for massive volumes of data , the system starts getting slow in terms of response time. To overcome this , we could of course "scale up" our systems by upgrading our existing hardware.
The alternative to the above problem would be to distribute our database load on multiple hosts as the load increases. This is known as "scaling out".
NOSQL database are non-relational databases that scale out better than relational databases and are designed with web applications in mind.
They do not use SQL to query the data and do not follow strict schemas like relational models.With NoSQL, ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability) features are not guaranteed always
A database schema is the skeleton structure that represents the logical view of the entire database. It defines how the data is organized and how the relations among them are associated. It formulates all the constraints that are to be applied on the data.
A database schema defines its entities and the relationship among them. It contains a descriptive detail of the database, which can be depicted by means of schema diagrams. It’s the database designers who design the schema to help programmers understand the database and make it useful.
