I love how quickly I can do text to speech (TTS) in any application on my Mac. Just highlight some text and hit Option + Escape. (This can be enabled under Settings > Accessibility > Speech > Speak selected text when the key is pressed) It is such an elegant solution, that I am always frustrated when I want to do the same on my PC. So I decided to fix it.
Option+Escape TTS emulates the Mac behavior on your PC. It is an app that runs in the background and waits for an Option + Escape keypress (Alt + Escape on a Windows keyboard). Once the hotkey is detected, it tries to copy the selected text to the clipboard and turn it into audio using the Microsoft's built-in speech synthesis APIs. You can also manually copy text before pressing Alt + Escape if automatic clipboard copying fails.
