Just a suggestion which could have helped myself as a new user: This adds a note to the README on how GpuOwl is still available and may be the preferred solution for new users, cf. the answer from @tdulcet on #301 (reply in thread).

This explains how GpuOwl is still available and may be the preferred solution for new users, cf. the discussion on preda#301 (reply in thread).

I consider that PRPLL is clearly ahead of the older GpuOwl versions, in every way (precision, speed, reliability) except that PRPLL does not implement P-1. I would recommend PRPLL for any new use unless the user desires to do P-1.

About naming, PRPLL at this point is becoming a placeholder for the next major version of GpuOwl, which will be 8.x. Based on feedback I'll probably drop the PRPLL name at that point.

About availability of older version -- this is open-source and the users are absolutely free to use older versions, and I'm fine with that.

## Looking for GpuOwl?

PRPLL is the new in-development version of GpuOwl. Until its development is completed, new users are advised to use the original version of GpuOwl, which can be found [on the `gpuowl` branch](https://github.com/preda/gpuowl/tree/gpuowl) of this repository.
