Discussion topics
- Meeting format changes
- Patch release 12.0.1 - Target July 28
- Achieving DL compliance: add stub definitions for SHACL and SKOS terms: Issue #934
- SHACL properties are defined as
rdf:Property
, which puts us out of DL, so we would have to remove the SHACL terms. - Rebecca: Propose adding SKOS stubs and removing SHACL terms
- Michael: If they don't affect inferencing, why is this a sticking point?
- Mark: If we want to claim OWL DL compliance, we should be completely compliant. It's possible that some tools will balk on non-DL features even if we haven't seen it so far.
- Boris: Remove all SHACL into an ontology adjacent file for validation. Why not import SKOS?
- Mark: If we import, then we open the gate to users mixing gist and SKOS terms - such as
gist:Category
andskos:Concept
. - Jamie: Likes to declare namespace and prefix, but won't vote against removal because many ontologists want to stay in DL. There might be something in
gistComputing
or a W3 ontology. - Boris: Put prefix declarations into another ontology, those who want them can load them with the understanding that they will not be DL compliant.
- Michael: OK to take them out as long as information is captured somewhere, either in an annotation or in a separate ontology file.
- Steven: Why use SKOS annotations rather than RDFS?
- Mark/Rebecca: More fine-grained than
rdfs:label
andrdfs:comment
.
