Ingredients: | ||
- 2 cups sugar | ||
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour | ||
- 3/4 cup cocoa | ||
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder | ||
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda | ||
- 1 teaspoon salt | ||
- 2 eggs | ||
- 1 cup milk | ||
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil | ||
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract | ||
- 1 cup boiling water | ||

Directions: | ||
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking | ||
pans. | ||
|
||
2. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda | ||
and salt. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Stir in | ||
boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans. | ||
|
||
3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out | ||
clean. Cool completely. | ||

- 1/3 cup milk | ||
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract | ||

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter and stir in cocoa. | ||
2. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk. Beat until light and fluffy. | ||
3. Stir in vanilla. If necessary, add a small amount of additional milk. |
