Cryptocat desktop client

This project provides an inofficial desktop version of the Cryptocat chat client.

Cryptocat is an experimental browser-based chat client for easy to use, encrypted conversations. It aims to make encrypted, private chat easy to use and accessible. - Cryptocat

Cryptocat is brought to the desktop by Roger Wang's node-webkit.

node-webkit is an app runtime based on Chromium and node.js. You can write native apps in HTML and Javascript with node-webkit. - node-webkit

• please visit the official homepage and make sure Cryptocat is right for you.

• be aware of the missing auto-update feature. The browser-based clients, as well as the Mac client, are distributed via app stores which allows to automatically distribute (security) updates. The desktop version is in an experimental state and does not (yet) provide any auto updates. It doesn't even notify you if a newer version is available.

##Operating Systems Currently, we only provide a Windows version. A Linux version will be available soon. If you are running Mac OS X, please visit the official Cryptocat homepage.

Prebuilt binaries

We provide prebuilt binaries as Windows executables and as node-webkit package. The latter requires a locally installed node-webkit runtime environment.
